Job Advert Summary
Rand Water is looking for a Management Accountant at their Rietvlei office. The incumbent will assist in managing and evaluating the overall planning and coordination of the Rand Water Budgets, Forecasts & Long Term Financial Plans whilst ensuring compliance with accounting standards, practices, policies and legislative regulations; assist develop and institute budgetary policy, controls and procedure changes.
Minimum Requirements
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • BCompt (Hons) in Accounting or qualified Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) • Minimum experience of at least 5 years in a finance environment • Knowledge and ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports and projections • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product profitability analysis • Experience in Financial Computer Systems e.g. SAP, Oracle, Pastel • Computer Literacy in MS Office Suite DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • Manufacturing, Engineering or Construction industry experience preferred • Strong supervisory experience • Minimum of 3 years Project Management experience • Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework that govern national public utilities • Experience in Activity Based Management
Primary Duties
• Responsible for providing timeous and accurate management reports that complies with the requirements of SA Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (SA GAAP) • Responsible for quarterly, annual and long term financial plans in compliance with the Water Services and the Public Finance Management Acts. • Provide key financial performance information • Provide assistance in managing and evaluating the overall budget and financial planning for Rand Water • Provide strategic support to all Portfolios, Departments and Divisions within Rand Water • Ensure compliance with National Treasury and other regulatory reporting requirements • Responsible for the development and implementation of budgetary policies, controls and procedural charges
Knowledge
• Knowledge of Financial Accounting Systems • Financial Plans, Budgets and Forecasts • Cost behaviour, responsibility accounting, job costing, overhead allocation and other management accounting concepts that enhance decision making • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite and SAP) • Knowledge of applicable legislation e.g. SA GAAP
