Essential Responsibilities

Specifically, the role will support Wabtec Transportation as EHRM for the SSA Region

  • Ensure that the respective tasks associated with EHRM activities are executed on for SSA, including but not limited to Salary planning, Performance Evaluation, Training nominations, grievances, compliance and labour law support.
  • Be a HR Business partner for the MD of Wabtec South Africa
  • Recruitment & Selection/Onboarding : Responsible for the efficient recruitment process (effective management of the entire end-to end process):
  • Arrange reference & background checks and draw up and extend offer letters
  • Ensure successful induction and orientation of new hires.
  • Remuneration & Benefits : Manage relationship between company and benefit vendors. Provide payroll input
    • Ensure effective and timeous processing and documentation of all staff movements (promotion etc.).
  • Training and Development: Lead the bursary program and other training programs to help upskill and retain employees.
    • Assist management and employees to develop their Individual Development
    • Partner with external institutions to identify training programs suitable for employees needs and development
    • Handling the entire SDF BBBEE elements of skills development and aligning it with the SETA framework.
    • Ensuring that an integrated & comprehensive WSP & Annual Training Plan is timeously submitted and aligned to the BBBEE requirements and
    • Manage (External Bursaries Learnerships, Graduates in training, Engineers in training, Interns and Apprentices) and other skills programs required timeframes.
    • Ensuring that discretionary grants & rebates are processed.

  • Employee Relations: Support Employee Relations to ensure effective application of sound and fair employee relations processes and adherence to company policies and Basic Employment Act of South Africa
    • Conduct investigations, arrange disciplinary hearings, draw up charges and administer the final sanction.
    • Represent the company at CCMA proceedings.
    • Engage in corrective counseling and poor performance interventions. Attend meetings with shop stewards and employees to mitigate issues and reach consensus on disputes.
  • Lead leadership assessment in the organization, identifying key employee strengths and development needs in order to recognize, select, retain and develop key talent.
  • Facilitate and administer the various HR generalist processes and functional interventions whilst partnering with the various business functions.
  • Ensure managers and employees of the business understand the company policies and procedures, applying them fairly and consistently across the organisation.
  • Promote diversity through effective application and monitoring of Employment Equity principles.
